Kinda looks like Massive Chalice.
What are y'all playing? ver 2.0
I havenāt played that yet, but it does look interesting. Iām a bit wary about the developer though.
Just finished Talos Principle. Wholly recommended if youāre into puzzle games. The most obvious comparison would be Portal, i guess. Itās very much like that. But much more heavy in story and themes.
Probably one of the best narratives in games to be honest. Top notch writing and design all around. Perhaps too philosophical in nature for most peopleās tastes but really strong nonetheless.
Shitā¦ a DLC released just yesterday. Thatās gonna have to wait i guess.
Man, my friends and I have been hardcore addicted to Donāt Starve Together.
Iāve never played the single player mode, but I can see how this is like a 300% improvement. Really awesome with 2-4 peeps
My friends have got me into playing it. I thought itād be Dwarf Fortress levels of inscrutable, but I did okay my first couple hours.
Wolfenstein: the old blood is a great little reminder of just how much fun a shooter can be when it puts its focus on gameplay and challenge first. I havenāt had this much fun with a shooter in a while, also the storyās not great, but itās a lot better than youād expect at the same time - not that itās what youāre here for though.
edit - also, itās been apparent since Rage, but idtech 5 might be the best first person engine on the market - itās got wonderful smoothness to it.
2 games have been completed from my previous list. They are:
Edge
This has been a very enjoyable puzzle game. It took some time to fully appreciate it. This certainly deserves to be played by fans of the genre.
James Pond 2
As expected, this has been a very short 2D platformer. Something that is very common with platformers around the megadrive and super nintendo era. Especially when you are given the option to save instead of playing it in one go. I had a good time with it. While the mascot or IP doesnāt do much for me, the game is made with care. I liked playing it.
Having completed these 2 games on the PSP, I decided to start on another game. This time itāsā¦Syphon Filter, a PS1 game.
Syphon Filter 1 was released shortly before or after MGS1. It seems to be compared with MGS1 often. Itās a very different beast though. There might be some stealth elements here and there, but itās an action game where you go quickly through events and try many weapons. I honestly expected the game to feel very outdated but Iām having tons of fun with it. Even the controls are pretty good when compared to other PS1 games. The game has 5 main chapters, each chapter has sub chapters. I completed 2 main chapters.
So the current list of the games I should be busy with for the next period:
- Blue Dragon
- Shadow Complex
- Archibaldās Adventures
- Pokemon Sapphire
- Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
- Syphon Filter
Looking at the list, it is more likely that I will complete Shadow Complex, Syphon Filter and Blue Dragon first if the focus is put on them.
God, I remember playing Syphon Filter when it released. I had to retry certain sections of levels so many times because the difficulty was frustrating. >_<
Where are you at in Blue Dragon?
This morning I started playing Magic Duels: Origins on my iPhone. I was able to access my card collection and the decks Iāve built on my iPad. Animations are faster and loading times are decreased. Text is minuscule and if I hadnāt logged lots of hours already it would be near impossible to play. At this rate Iāll unlock a new pack of cards every other day which means Iāll continue to play it for a while longer. The Steam and Xbox versions (also free-to-play) should be released today. Iām sticking to the iOS versions until they find a way to synchronize content between different account systems.
Deathwatch is still awesome. Iāve reached act 8 and Iāve started to unlock purple (highest tier) gear.
Yeah, I had to replay certain sections too. I donāt know if itās difficult or plain unfair in certain sections. You have that boss fight with the flamethrower guy where you have to hit him 10 times and you die with one hit I am surprised about the game having checkpoints though. Itās ahead of time for a PS1 game. Without it things would have been very frustrating quickly.
Did you play Syphon Filter 2 and 3? Iām not sure if theyāre worth getting.
With Blue Dragonā¦I got hold of a ship that letās me fly everywhere. Once you get hold of it the worldmap marks spots you can go to. I went to all the optional spots. There are only some optional bosses left. After that I have the last dungeon, that would be my guess at least. Itās the only spot marked with a big purple.
Sorry I meant airship indeed. The airship is actually small because it is part of a bigger airship (story related). The way it is used is similar to old school JRPGs, something that isnāt very common with PS3 en Xbox 360 RPGs.
Oh right, almost forgot to mention what Iāve been up to lately. One game has been completed!
Shadow Complex
After you unlock most of the necessary skills to get hold of all the upgrades, the game opens up a lot. Thatās when itās also at its best. I am way more positive about this game than before. Although it still has some minor issues that stop it from reaching the heights of the games it is inspired by, the game has fantastic moments. Also the devs nailed how powerful the player feels once the main upgrades are obtained. Every hit feels good, the last weapon is so freaking satisfying with how enemies fly from every shot and how you run with hyperspeed.
Other games I have been busy with briefly include Pokemon Sapphire and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. Iām about to go through mt. Pyre with Pokemon Sapphire and defeated a Rathian for the first time with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. The plan for the next period is to focus a bit more on Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. I play the online missions with a friend, next week weāre going to get busy again. Time to make some progress with the single player missions in order to be strong enough. If it wasnāt apparent, the multiplayer missions are separate from the single player missions.
Looks like not many are playing video games lately.
A quick overview of what Iāve been up to.
Syphon Filter
Chapter 3 out of 5 is complete. I tend to play a chapter in one go instead of stopping at every few chapters. It makes the game feel pretty short. There is something very addictive about this game. It makes me want to get hold of Syphon Filter 2 and 3 when they get price drops.
Pokemon Sapphire
I made it to Mossdeep City, Iāve made it pretty far, further than the last time. My party is 10 Pokemon around level 31.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Did about 3 missions. One mission left and 5 stars missions will be unlocked.
Blue Dragon
Right now Iām going back to previous areas for chest locations. After that I will attempt optional bosses before going to the last dungeon.
I beat Deathwatch a few days ago and Iām now replaying it on Veteran difficulty. The missions are the same, but now the enemies have a bunch of new abilities making it a much more rewarding experience. You also get better loot.
I tried Oddworld: New ānā Tasty! and Styx: Master of Shadows and those games arenāt for me. Tonight Iāll start playing something new since Iām done with watching Daredevil.
Iām playing Lovely Planet. Bought it with the money i got from selling steam cards. It feels like a game about escapism. I emailed the dev but he hasnāt answered back. Itās pretty fun.
