Oh dear, Vicar Amelia is fucking scary >_>

Iā€™ve always been curious about the Democracy series and when Democracy 3 was on sale recently I decided to grab it. Last night I ran Germany for an election term and I managed to eradicate poverty, obesity and homelessness in a single term. Increasing GDP and fixing the unemployment rate proved more difficult. I donā€™t believe I made it worse, but despite changing multiple policies I could barely influence the economy. In the next election I got 70+% of the votes so maybe Iā€™ll give it another try.

I guess Other M isnā€™t very good. I donā€™t really want to compare it to other Metroid games because i do like that this is different and with a different emphasis but it pains me to see the game not really doing anything spectacularly with a starting point as strong as the Metroid franchise. The emphasis on combat is, well, what youā€™d expect from Team Ninja but it doesnā€™t mesh well with the other, more metroidian design choicesā€¦ and the story isnā€™t very good either. I guess iā€™ll try to finish it, iā€™m at least glad that i tried it, and there are a few things that i like about it after all.

Shit man, i understand the fact that the Man doesnā€™t want to give me my abilities if my life isnā€™t in danger, itā€™s a cute narrative thing that makes sense but it really hurts the game.

@John: Scrub your brain of anything youā€™ve played in Other M, then go play the superior Metroid Prime trilogy. I loved Metroid Prime 1, but I never did get around to playing MP2+3.

I beat Dragon Quest 1. Killed the Dragonlord at level 22. He was too easy at that level. Prior to fighting him, he asked me if I wanted to join his side, and after I answered no, he pressed again asking if Iā€™d like to rule half the world. I said no again, then we fought. I wonder what would have happened had I answered yes. There was a similar ā€œyes or noā€ event after I beat the Dragonlord. First, the king asked if Iā€™d like to takeover the throne as king. I answered no. Afterwards, the princess asked me if she could come with me. I answered yes. Iā€™m guessing for the former, if I answered yes, it would have ended with the princess and I ruling as king and queen, but for the latter, Iā€™m not sure. I should search for these on Google to find out if there are any alternate endings.

Being that Iā€™m on a classic DQ mood, I decided to buy Dragon Quest 2 on the iOS app store. Itā€™s a bit more money than DQ1. Iā€™m going into this game fresh as well. Iā€™m not too far into the story, but thus far, the story is more advanced than DQ1ā€™s story. I can immediately see the new features: party members that you have to set out and recruit, fighting multiple enemies in a single battle, the addition of an antidote to cure poison, and the entire screen is visible when youā€™ve entered a cave. Iā€™m sure there will be new additions that DQ1 didnā€™t have as I play further into the game.

Iā€™ve played the trilogy twice back to back.

Echoes is really really good and were it not for the originalā€™s soundtrack and general ambiance, it would be one of the best things in the whole franchise.

Sometimes i consider playing a game because of its historical significance more important than playing because iā€™m enjoying it, and this is one of those times. Iā€™m studying, is what iā€™m doing.

I made significant progress in Dragon Quest 2. The hero is level 21, and I have the other two party members, Kain and Lynda. Kain is level 18, and Lynda is level 13. Itā€™s interesting that all three characters are royalty. The hero and Kain are princes, and Lynda is a princess from their respected castles. I got the silver and gold keys, so I can backtrack and open doors in previous castles and towns, so I can get treasures, and also get secret info from people. I met the great, great grandson of the Dragonlord from DQ1 in the same castle that I defeated his great, great grandfather. That was cool.

Well, Bloodborne just suddenly got a whole lot harder and i donā€™t even know whyā€¦ i just beat Rom and suddenly everything is much much harder! Maybe iā€™m underleveled (49) or maybe i shouldnā€™t have 61 insight but shit man. Gotta grind a bit guess.

#569

oh my god pleae kill me io just lost 30 thousand echoes

#570

Thatā€™s about where I stopped playing it. I canā€™t decide if I want to roll a new Bloodborne character or move on to Dark Souls 2.

#571

I eventually figured out what was going on. There were singing women respawning and berserking the mobs, so killing them first was the most important, after that the regular dudes are easy. But i have to say man i was shaking like crazy when i first managed to go through that section, i missed that level of stress and fear.

Bloodborne begins here i guess!

#572

BTW, relating to build stuff, iā€™m only really using Ludwigā€™s Holy Blade and his gun too. Hunterā€™s set too.

Itā€™s all kinds of ironic but i like it.

#573

In Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess you play as the devilā€™s daughter and for some reason you have to kill brave adventurers with goofy contraptions. The trick is to chain together as many traps as possible while exploiting the enemiesā€™ weaknesses.

#574

I havenā€™t played the later games, but loved the original:

I so wish they made a game similar to the original. Iā€™ve long thought of making a game in homage to the original.

#575

Apparently it was called Devilā€™s Deception in Europe. Maybe Iā€™ll pick it up.

#576

Ripped through Her Story last night, well worth a play. Only takes about 2.5 hours to complete.

#577

OK so i grabbed my butt and strapped my boots and finally got FFXII IZJS running. I havenā€™t played a whole lot of it yet so i havenā€™tā€¦ actually seen any differences so far. Anyway i chose Samurai for Vaan. Iā€™m guessing itā€™s a high dps job.

#578

Great game, didnā€™t get very far before my emulator starting shitting all over the game. This was quite a few years ago, though. Should give it another shot

#579

We have three completed games this time and Iā€™ve made some progress with other games.

Completed Games

  • Syphon Filter
  • Blue Dragon
  • Pokemon Sapphire

Syhpon Filter is a decent game. One I enjoyed more than I expected. I thought it would be too outdated to be enjoyable before getting my hands on it. It might feel outdated for being on a PS1 hardware, but it does not affect the enjoyment that can be had out of the game. The controls, while unique, work for the most part. The missions are varied, the checkpoints are welcome and the story has a hook even though itā€™s nothing special. What holds it back are mostly 2 things, the challenge and voice acting. The AI have auto-aim or something. Once youā€™re in their target, youā€™re dead in seconds. And you get ambushed a lot. Expect to retry certain sections many times. The voice acting is part of that era, so bad that itā€™s funny.

I ended up avoiding the optional bosses in Blue Dragon. The blizzard dragon is bullshit! And I really had enough of the game and was ready to complete it. The twist near the end (that Leo hinted at before) was out of nowhere but it makes sense when you think about certain scenes. Due to my raised expections thanks to the last areas, I expected more from the final bossfights. Especially the last fight felt meaningless. It was too easy, unoriginal and felt scripted.

I was more positive about Pokemon Sapphire before. For the most part, that is still the case but 2 things did annoy me about the game. The game has many time based activities. Such as the growth of the berries (plants you use on your pokemon) and moreā€¦I donā€™t know if it has anything to do with the internal battery but I noticed that I was missing out on many minor elements that are time based. I canā€™t grow berries and receive more. My other problem is probably my fault. I went through the game without grinding at all. I was fine until I made it to victory road (last dungeon). Itā€™s in that dungeon when it showed how I was underleveled. The elite 4 fights and the 5th one were extremely annoying with my level 37-41 Pokemon. I still made it with tons of healing items but I had to retry many times with the 5th battle. I still enjoyed the game but I wonā€™t pursue the optional content after completing the story mode. Considering that there are too many Pokemon games out there, I will do that with other Pokemon games.

Progress Other Games

  • Archibaldā€™s Adventures (barely played, the least played game in the list)
  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles My Life as a Darklord (played some missions from chapter 3)
  • Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (I havenā€™t made any progress with the single player missions but I played online missions yesterday and today Iā€™ll be playing more with 2 friends)

Fallout Shelter finally came to android last week after months of exclusivity on iOS >_<

Really fun mobile game. The addiction factor is strong.

I noticed something for the first timeā€¦ when you first exit the city thereā€™s a line for the people waiting to go back in. I thought it was just for show, but if you talk to the soldier he lets you in the line, and it actually works! The line moves, which takes quite a while tbh, and when your turn arrives you can ask to go back in. Iā€™d never seen that before.
