GT6 Update 1.19 Now Available, Brings Nissan GT-R LM, Peugeot Vision GT

The start of June brings a fresh new GT6 update, version 1.19, available now as a 270MB download. Although it doesn’t bring any new game features, it does bring two highly anticipated cars – including one of the most intriguing new race cars to come along in quite some time.

Since Nissan first announced their Nissan LMP1 challenger during their Super Bowl commercial earlier this year, it’s been one of the most anticipated new racing cars to come about in quite some time. It’s also been closely tied with the Gran Turismo series, and will be piloted by three GT Academy champions as they compete for the overall win in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.

A Vision GT car has made it into this years Goodwood FoS sculpture.
"One is the now-iconic form of the Mazda 787B, the screaming rotary-engined, make-your-ears-bleed hero of La Sarthe in 1991 and the first, and only, Japanese car ever to win Le Mans. Don’t believe us when we say it’s noisy? Check out our video here.

The other is a modern day homage to the Le Mans winner in the form of the Mazda LM55, a digital vision, designed for the GranTurismo 6 game, made real. And a complete stunner – for many people the best looker of the whole Vision Gran Turismo series.

And the sculpture itself? At first sight it’s a giant Jenga game, hundreds (actually 418) white bars piled into a tower that twists and and turns as it rises skywards.

It looks simple. But closer inspection reveals a far more complex shape, full of tension as the criss-crossing bars combine in an elegant twisting form whose obvious strength defies its elegant lightness and delicacy.

In these things the sculpture is the essence of Kodo Design, Mazda’s successful ‘Soul of Motion’ ethos that shapes all the road cars, most recently with the equally strong yet delicate new Mazda MX-5 roadster.
More importantly, the Mazda 787B is the world’s sexiest racing car bar nothing. And that’s before we get on to the engine noises.

#47

Absolutely.

The sculpture itself is neat, the past, and possible future of Mazda’s racing ventures.

Course Maker: First Screenshots & Full Details

The GT6 Course Maker breaks from the confines of the PS3 gaming console to take full advantage of today’s large touch screens on tablet devices. It will be released as a free app on both Apple’s App Store and Android’s Google Play, and should be available worldwide by the end of tomorrow, September 30th.

Tracks created within the apps will then be saved to your PlayStation Network account to be loaded within GT6.

Track designers will have a fairly extensive set of tools available at their disposal, along with a lot of creative freedom to design any type of road of their choosing:

  • Four different locations or geography types will be available,
including the familiar “Eifel” location from GT5, the Andalusia
region in Spain (around which the Circuit de la Sierra is based),
along with the introduction of a new “Death Valley” location.
  • Players will have full control of the shape and layout of the course,
including the ability to set road width and the banking of corners.
  • Roadside items such as plants, trees, buildings, signs, tents, and
grandstands can be placed around the circuit.

  • Curbing can be placed in custom areas along the edge of the track
(though this functionality won’t be available in all of the
    geographic locations).
  • Once the track has been saved and loaded into GT6, players will be
able to test drive their track, or use it in Arcade Mode, Open Lobby
online events, and share it with friends via the in-game Community
    Features.

With the online services for GT6 undergoing scheduled maintenance in the early hours of September 30th and the pending release of these companion apps, the now-infamous Course Maker update seems all but confirmed to arrive for all within the next few hours.

You can download a real map and draw over it.

#56

I hope most of these awesome features will be in GT7 at launch.

#57

What is GT7?

Has it been announced?

#58

“For GT7, myself and my staff have a clear vision: to do everything we couldn’t do in GT6. We want to make it very Gran Turismo. By that I mean it’s going to be a game that matches the very era that we live in, in 2015 or 2016.” - Yamauchi (a year ago)

I’m guessing it will be announced at E3 2016 and delayed until Q1 2017.

#59

So it might possibly be in pre-production.

Super job guys.

Well done on finally completing GT6 btw.

#60

GT6 is already very impressive on the PS3. Porting the same engine and turning up some dials a notch would be enough for me to jump in. I would gladly buy an enhanced version of GT6 with all the DLC included for the PS4.

GT6 got announced in May of 2013 and was released in December of the same year. Expect the same kind of schedule of announcement for the next game.

GT6 Update 1.21 Now Available: Course Maker, Updated Car Sounds

Polyphony Digital has published a video (see above) featuring original GT Academy star Lucas Ordoñez which shows the feature in action.

The latest version update for Gran Turismo 6 has gone live and brings with it the final piece of the GT6 puzzle – the Course Maker (or, more specifically, the “Track Path Editor”)!

Update 1.21 weighs in at 185MB, packing in the Course Maker and its four themes: Eifel, Eifel Flat, Andalusia (based on the location of Circuit de la Sierra), and an entirely new location for the series, Death Valley.

Here’s a quick overview of the steps you need to complete to start making tracks:

  • Install the Track Path Editor on your tablet device. It’s available
in the Apple App Store (iOS 7+ required) and the Google Play store
(Android 4.1+ required). Note that the app may not be available in
all regions just yet – if you don’t see it, just keep checking back.
  • Create track data using the Track Path Editor. Using the “Eifel Flat”
location, you have the option to import photographs of track maps
which you can use to help you trace existing roads and circuits. Raw
GPX/KML data can also be imported from compatible GPS devices.
  • Transfer the track you’ve created into Gran Turismo 6.
  • Load the track data using the Track Path Importer.
  • Test drive every section of the track using the Track Path Importer.
  • Save the track as a user-created track.
  • Use the track in Arcade Mode or in the Community area.

Other additions in Update 1.21 include:

  • Penalties have been disabled in “Free Run” mode.
  • With the addition of the “GT6 Track Path Editor”, the maximum length
of best lap replays that can be loaded in the Data Logger has been
    set to 20 minutes.
  • The engine sounds of certain cars have been improved.
  • “GT Academy 2015” has been removed from the [SPECIAL EVENTS] section
in accordance to the end of the Online Qualifier period.

Edit: Except PD have already said the updated Nissan 2020 is not coming to GT6.
