Who knows. If the FFVII remake is a success (we know it will be), then they may find it worthwhile to remake the other FF that is always either #1 or #2 in someone’s “top 10 FF” list, FFVI. PS4 hasn’t been catching on in Japan currently, but if there ever was a single game to put a fire under Japan’s ass to buy the console, FFVII remake would be the holy grail.
I’m not completely sold on FFXV, but I think that’s because we still haven’t seen very much of the game. They gave us a vertical slice demo, and presentation-wise, it made for a pretty boring demo. Episode Duscae was just “look, it exists in playable form. now leave us alone!” It certainly paled in comparison to the FFVII and FFVIII demos, and between those two, FFVIII was the far more memorable one. I still remember the giant mechanical crab chasing your party down a mountain, to this day.
For me, it isn’t the road trip with the guys that has me less interested, but the battle system. Even with the substantial patch applied to the demo, I don’t find the combat to be enjoyable. It’s too bad that they took out Stella, but I think Luna is a better character design. Last I heard, they were still considering implementing multiple playable characters as guest characters.
