E3 2015 mega thread

I’m betting the Vive is going to trounce Oculus in terms of presence and raw specs, but Oculus will be more commercially successful. And cheaper.

My anticipation for Valve’s consumer-model VR controllers is through the roof, now.

I wonder when they’ll give more deets on their system. They’re not gonna be at E3, and latest reports still say they’re shipping units this year.

Something I didn’t notice until I re-watched the insomniac presentation, he said “Exclusive for the rift”.

So we’re having device-specific games now? On PC???

A) That’s not ok
B) That’s not sustainable

In order for VR to survive, these companies are going to need to work together. If half the games are being made for the rift and the other half is being made for the Vive, this house of cards is not gonna get built very tall before it comes crashing down. More than anything I’m kind of confused by how exactly Oculus is planning on keeping games device-exclusive. People shouldn’t have too much trouble spoofing one headset to show up as the other, I’m betting someone will crack that code in 2016, easy.

Let’s hope Valve doesn’t follow suit. Or maybe lets hope they do, idk. I want them to make it.

Maybe they just meant it’s exclusive for VR… I hope so

That guy from Eve Online cracked me up with this gem

The more I think about it, the more I believe that choosing to bundle the xbox controller over the half moon controller is going to hurt them badly. HMDs can’t just be a gimmick. It’s not going to survive as a living room simulator. Using a real and functional motion controller needs to be tied to the core experience of the system, not a secondary peripheral.

Show me some dinosaurs with lasers, Guerilla.

Are they making Dino games?

I feel like Dinosaurs might be the next Zombies.

In which case, BRING BACK DINOTOPIA

I was about to say “No more Turok please”, but then I saw that leaked concept art, and now I say “yes please”.

#53

Speaking of ARK, just announced that’s coming to PS4 & Morpheus. I wasn’t aware of a PC VR version, I bet that’s forthcoming too.

#54

I saw a trailer of ARK on Steam. That looks cool. I might get that.

#55

That sweet, sweet trolling with the Frog theme. Oh SQEX.

Fallout 4 looked impressive. I take back most of what I said about it, but going by the amount of content in it, I couldn’t dedicate all that time into it. I probably won’t be playing it because of that. Doom looked awesome.

The next conference is Microsoft’s. I’ll be able to watch that. I think I’ll skip the EA and Ubisoft conferences. Definitely watching Sony’s conference tomorrow night. Unfortunately, I’ll be working during Nintendo’s digital event and the Square Enix conference. Those are the two I wanted to see most. I guess I can watch archived videos later on.

Oh, and I saw the Nintendo World Championship earlier. That was entertaining. John Numbers killed it.
